Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Purchasing Manager to lead procurement operations, vendor management, and inventory planning across a dynamic, high-volume contractor business. This role is central to maintaining seamless materials acquisition and availability for multiple concurrent jobs. The ideal candidate has a strong background in purchasing best practices, inventory systems, and vendor negotiations, and can operate confidently in a project-driven environment. This position reports to the Operations Manager and will also support the company's ERP evolution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or inventory management, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or rental environments

  • Strong understanding of P2P (procure-to-pay) workflows and procurement best practices

  • Excellent vendor negotiation and relationship management skills

  • Analytical mindset with strong skills in forecasting and inventory planning

  • Effective communication and collaboration across teams

  • Proven ability to lead or mentor junior purchasing staff


Preferred Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 or Business Central is preferred but not required

  • Experience with equipment kits, calibration schedules, or complex inventory structures

  • Familiarity with ERP transitions or system upgrades

  • Experience working closely with Sales, Finance, and Operations teams


Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Operations

  • Oversee the full procure-to-pay lifecycle, including purchase orders, vendor negotiations, and approvals

  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to secure competitive pricing, terms, and credit limits

  • Lead vendor assessments and performance reviews to improve purchasing efficiency

Inventory & Equipment Management

  • Manage equipment hierarchies, kits, and calibration dependencies to maintain accurate and timely inventory availability

  • Use ERP data to drive improvements in inventory planning and forecasting

  • Support preparation for future ERP upgrades or migrations

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor a team of 1–2 purchasing assistants, ensuring accountability and development

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Finance (AP), and Field Operations teams to ensure smooth procurement workflows

  • Promote consistency and best practices across purchasing activities
