Accounting Manager
Summary: As an Accounting Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial activities of our organization, with a specific focus on the solar and construction industry. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of accounting functions, including financial statement preparation, cost analysis, compliance with regulations, and process improvement. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure financial accuracy, mentor and train junior to senior accounting staff, and contribute to the organization's strategic financial planning. Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Management: Supervise and manage day-to-day accounting activities, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), full cycle General Ledger (G/L) accounting, and payroll functions, emphasizing industry-specific aspects.
Financial Close Oversight: Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements, considering industry-specific revenue recognition and cost accounting requirements.
Policy and Procedure Development: Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
Cost Accounting: Establish and maintain cost accounting systems to accurately track costs, revenues, and profitability of solar installation projects.
Billing and Revenue Recognition: Coordinate with Operations teams to ensure accurate and timely billing, cost tracking, and revenue recognition for ongoing projects.
Intercompany Transactions: Manage and review intercompany transactions and reconciliations between different entities within the organization, ensuring accurate recording and elimination of intercompany balances.
Financial Statements: Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, while analyzing project profitability and identifying trends and potential risks.
Cost Analysis: Perform cost accounting analysis to identify and control project-related expenses, monitor budget adherence, and provide insights for decision-making and project estimation processes.
Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely recording of revenue and expenses, facilitating interdepartmental communication to support project success.
Financial Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing management with regular reports and recommendations for improvement, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Mentoring and Training: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior to senior accounting staff, sharing knowledge and expertise to foster professional growth and development within the team.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with changes in accounting regulations and standards, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant guidelines.
Tax Filings: Assist the Controller in tax filings and related compliance.
Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement within the accounting function. Streamline processes, implement automation, and leverage technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A): Assist the Controller in FP&A functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term strategic planning.
Leadership Support: Assist the Controller as needed and respond to financial information requests from the Leadership team.

Compliance: Comply with company policies and procedures.

Key Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years of progressive accounting experience, with FP&A experience preferred.
- Team Management: A minimum of 2 years of supervisory or team management experience, including the ability to lead and develop a team of accounting professionals.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is highly desirable.
- License: Certified Public Accountant
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to analyze project financial data.

- Payroll: Payroll experience is preferred.
- Intercompany: Experience with multiple subsidiaries and intercompany transactions is required.
Software Proficiency:
- NetSuite: Strong knowledge of NetSuite is strongly preferred.
- Microsoft Excel: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
